New Desert Storm album set for Jan 26th release

DESERT STORM announce album details; confirm appearance at London Desertfest

unnamed

Oxford-based riff-hounds, DESERT STORM, have today unveiled details of their upcoming album, and confirmed an appearance at the London edition of Desertfest 2015.

The five piece band entered the studio earlier this year to lay down the tracks for the album, which will be titled ‘Omniscient’. They recorded the ten track album with Jamie Dodd at Flesh & Bone Studio, Hackney, before the producer – who counts Orange Goblin among his credits – returned to The Animal Farm studio in south London, where it was mixed.

The band commented: “This album is a natural progression from our previous releases; it has elements of blues, sludge, stoner, psychedelia and even a bit of folk. We’ve mixed things up a bit for a more interesting album – in our opinion. We’re looking forward to seeing what other people think, come January”.

The follow up to 2013’s critically acclaimed ‘Horizontal Life’, which was mastered by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Sleep, Cathedral) now has a confirmed release date of 26th January 2015. What may appear to the untrained eye to be a straight up stoner rock album, has a bluesy depth and at times veers towards a folk-tinged acoustic edge.  A taster of the album has already been unveiled by way of the track ‘Queen Reefer’ which was recently streamed by Terrorizer magazine.

In addition to the album news, DESERT STORM are delighted to confirm that they’ll be on the bill at the 2015 Desertfest in London. Sleep, Red Fang and Orange Goblin are already confirmed for the event which will take place at various venues in Camden, between 24th-26th April.

Free track from forthcoming album by Gift of Blindness

Here it is… a free track by my doom project Gift of Blindness, taken from forthcoming album “In a Moment We Forget”. The album will feature 8 lengthy tracks, and is about 90% done. Just need to record vocals for the final track then onto mixing / mastering.

The album’s been in the works for about a year, but the genesis for it started nearly 10 years ago from a jam session I had with some friends, some of the riffs from that jam session are featured on the album. In the meantime, you can stream / download “Automaton” below

Forthcoming release – Komatsu “Manu Armata”

Blindsight Records is proud to present “Manu Armata” by Komatsu

Eindhoven Stoner/sludge formation KOMATSU got noticed, both in their homeland as abroad during 2013. Among other things, the hard working band gave a successful performance at the Speedfest festival (Eindhoven, Holland), where they were joined on stage with non other than John Garcia (Vista chino, ex-Kyuss, Hermano, Slo Burn, etc.) to perform the Slo Burn cover song ‘July’. In addition the band released a split-EP with the English rockband Desert Storm and played several successful shows and tours in Europe. After the raving reviews of their debut album ‘Manu Armata’, this album will now be released in England, via Blindsight Records.

After releasing their first self titled EP ‘KOMATSU’ in 2011, the band hit the studios at the end of 2012 to record what is to become their first full-length album: ‘Manu Armata’.
Non other than producer Theo van Rock, who has worked with major bands like Tool, Rollins band, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ween, helps them during recordings. They manage to capture the heavy and thrusting distinctive sound KOMATSU is known for while maintaining an accessible and open feel. On ‘Manu Armata’ you’ll hear eleven songs with powerful and filthy stoner guitar-riffs, raw vocals, crushing drums and uncompromising (instrumental) tracks with sound-samples. Suburban Records releases the cd for ‘Manu Armata’ and the brand new record label Lighttown Fidelity, releases the album with beautiful artwork on vinyl.

The international press gets excited. Several renowned music-magazines reward the album with high ratings (Aardschok 82/100, Rocktribune 88/100, Powermetal 85/100, Up Magazine 92/100, Lust for Life magazine and Eindhovens Dagblad (local newspaper) give 4 out of 5 stars). They rate Komatsu to the top of the Dutch heavy rock scene.

After a successful tour in the UK (december 2013) the ‘stoner-jugernaut’ Komatsu now heads for England again in July 2014. At July 7th 2014 ‘Manu Armata’ is available in the UK. More information about the promotion-tour shall follow soon.

Release date: 7th of July, available on CD Digipak and Digital Download.
